Movie "Nicije Dijete" by Vuk Ršumović, debute short film by Jelena Novaković "Ana Trg" and French movie "Guy Moquet" by Demis Herenger were declared winners of 8th Mediterranean Film Festival. "Nicije Dijete", filmed in Croatian- Serbian co-production was awarded with score of 4.8 out of 5.0 and video message by 16 year old Denis Murić that played the main role was greeted with ovation.
The winner in category "Jeske" for best short Croatian film is 25min film "Ana Trg" that had its premiere in Split and follows the story of a street seller that has been selling for 40 years catholic calendares and rosaries. The best international short movie is "Guy Moquet" that already won an award in Cannes.
The Festival screened 66 movies from 31 countries, from which 45 had its Croatian premiere in Split. The audience visited in great number each of three locations, however citizens of Split and their guests are especially attached to the summer movie theatre "Bacvice" that is placed in unique location, in the middle of pine forest and next to the sea...
For the first time, films outside the Mediterranean were screened to show the festival's another project "Kino Mediteran" that promotes and revitalizes closed movie theatres on islands and in villages.
The manager of the Festival, Alen Munitić, was very pleased after the manifestation finished.
I am proud we confirmed the status of the most visited cultural manifestation in Split and that despite all various events in the city, each night the audience chose our movie theatres. From this year, they did not choose only summer movie theatre, but also "Zlatna vrata" and Art Gallery cinema with free programme. To us, as organisers, that is the greatest award for our hardwork that lasted the entire year.
I am also very happy the way audience approached to the voting, they all accepted their role with responsability and I am very pleased with their choice. I am sure that we will be keep the audience award even when we engage the jury again. To all hooked on a good Mediterranean and European film, we recommend to find us during this summer, because our project "Kino Mediteran" "exploded" in the sense of locations and towns and it is very likely that if you visit one of the islands, you will find our movie theatre- concluded Munitić.
