After fifth anniversary of Zagreb Film Festival, a couple of enthusiasts, among which a few of our ex colleagues, started Mediterranean Film Festival (FMFS). We witnessed at that moment to a film programme of a high quality, focused on films from Mediterranean and opened to the audience.
Today, 8 years later, FMFS is one of the most important film festivals in Croatia, with strict programme policy and great audience feedback. Besides focusing on Mediterranean cinema, FMFS singles out continuously creative people from Split and Dalmatia and together with the project Kino Mediteran, enables to the audience from Dalmatia an approach to a high quality films. With these efforts, constructively and creatively, it does something many speak of- decentralizes availability to the cultural content.
Trying to support everything that FMFS represents with being a part of the transmitters of a high quality programme for the audience in Croatiia, we have been cooperating with FMFS for many years. We cooperate because we exchange programmes: this year, two titles from ZFF will be screened during FMFS: “A New Girlfrend” by important French director Francois Ozon and the winner of “Golden Lion” for best picture in Venice “A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence” by Roy Andersson and ZFF will guest one or more premieres from FMFS on this year’s 13th edition of ZFF (14TH-22ND November).
We are screening various films during the entire year as the part of the project Kino Mediteran and in movie theatre Europa in Zagreb. We are nurturing our friendship because we are looking forward to our mutual conversations and ideas and we do this because of the love we have for cinema and for our audience.
