The FMFS Premiere programme in May presents two award-winning films: the Oscar-winning Lithuanian film Flow and the French biographical love story Bonnard: Pierre and Marthe.
Flow is a captivating story that will win the hearts of audiences both young and old. It is one of the most acclaimed and awarded animated films of the past year.
After his home is destroyed by a great flood, a cat finds refuge on a boat already inhabited by several other animals. Despite their differences, the animals must unite in order to survive. As the lonely vessel drifts through mystical, flooded landscapes, its passengers must navigate a series of challenges and dangers while trying to adapt to a completely new world.
Awarded at numerous major international festivals and ceremonies, including Annecy and the European Film Awards, Flow is the winner of this year’s Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Martin Provost, director of the hit film How to Be a Good Wife, brings a unique love story with Bonnard: Pierre and Marthe, which lies behind timeless works of art and was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
When French artist Pierre Bonnard – a protégé of Claude Monet – meets Marthe de Méligny in 1893, he has no idea that the self-proclaimed aristocrat will become the cornerstone of both his artistic creation and his life. Although she appears in many of his works, she is far more than a muse to him: over five decades, the couple will experience turbulent events together, living through an intense love marked also by jealousy.
