The setback we (might have) felt during the past years and all that was and still is going on in the world, made us rediscover our Industry's playground, embracing all the learnings and findings along the road. As we are aligned with our mission to foster education through entertainment, we are kicking off with the baseline of all good cinematografic works - its story. Hence, we are more than thrilled to open our Industry programme with Robert McKee's masterclass and the Croatian translation of his remarkable book "Story", which has inspired many film professionals around the world.
On this note, and in partnership with the Creative Europe Desk - MEDIA Office, we will continue to firmly support young film professionals in developing and presenting projects for the international market, coming from a number of countries from the European and Mediterranean pool.
Mastering the importance of words coming to life through audiovisual works, we offer workshops on developing and producing animated films based on children's books, meeting the authors whose films will be screened within the children's programme, and even work on developing their own games based on those stories.
Furthermore, we will offer another voice-over and dubbing workshop for all those willing to give their voice for the cinema and enrich the world of adapted animated movies to become more accessible at the local market. The mastress of giving her voice for such a great cause, Jelena Miholjević, one of Croatia's greatest actresses, will be sharing her own and fruitful experience with major film studio adaptations to independent cinema works, but also presenting her first collection of poems published at the beginning of this year.
Having a mainly female lead programme this year, we will get into wrapping it all up by discussing the (in)visible women of our industry and how far we are from the true female support in order to ensure that the phrase "the future is female" becomes our non-toxic reality.
If you're up for some purifying showers of art, culture and meet up-s in a relaxing environment of the charming city of Split, please visit us and www.fmfs.hr for more information.
Welcome!

“The Future is Female” and is it? Female representation in the film/entertainment industry is rising, but what does that actually mean? How do we embrace this information and how to respond to it (accordingly)? How do other women respond to it and how far are we from true female support in order to assure that “the future is female” becomes our non-toxic reality? We will also touch the issues such as sexual harassment in the film industry, why woman are often being women’s worst enemy and how do we actually support each other truthfully and are we?
Hosted by Ena Rahelić
17.00 – 18.00 Masterclass: Jelena Miholjević *In Croatian, apply via e-mail at industry@fmfs.hr
“This voice” would be the literal translation of the first published poetry book by Jelena Miholjević, who gave her voice away by bringing to life so many characters in theatre plays, but to us even more important, for many animated films, among which are Toy Story, The Jungle book, Pinocchio, Tinker Bell, Inside Out, Star Wars, Mamma Moo Finds Her Way Home and many other important and no less notable projects.
She will be sharing her valuable experience, handing out many important and valuable advice and inputs to young actors who are exploring their own voice and are willing to leave traces by reaching audiences through their voice, getting to know themselves too.
Consequently, we will be talking about her book, which has been inspired by her voice and her work with it.
